Lake Iseo


Lake of Iseo or Sebino is for amplitude is the fourth largest lake in Lombardy and the sixth of Italy.

It is located 185 m. above sea level and its area is 61 sq. km.The maximum width is 2.

4 km, the perimeter of approximately 65 km.

II between the lake and Monte Isola Tavernola reaches the maximum depth, 256 m.

It belongs to the group of large lakes of glacial origin and is formed by the Oglio River flowing out of the Gavia Pass, along the Vallecamonica, enters the lake in the municipality of Costa Volpino and out between Paratico and Sarnico.

At the center of the lake is Monte Isola, the largest inhabited island of the European lakes, which reaches 600 m. above sea level and is characterised by a typically Mediterranean vegetation which is also found in the beautiful gardens of the two small islands (private property) of Loreto and S. Paul that flank the north and south.

The climate is ideal for a relaxing holiday. The temperature reached during the summer months an average of 26-27 degrees. During the night blows from Vallecamonica towards the lake breeze of the mountain called “vet”. In the afternoon, from the plain, echoed in the opposite direction “the Hour.”
The temperature of the surface waters in June and September is about 18-19 degrees, 20-22 degrees in July and August.
The main centers are: Iseo, Lovere, Pisogne, Sarnico.
The location on the lake are connected together with the shipping service line “Navigazione Lago d’Iseo” ( which also features special summer cruises.
